Submit

Remember: We’re a nonfiction literary magazine that focuses on addiction, but you don’t have to be an addict to submit to us.

Here is what we’re looking for.

We love narrative, but we also encourage diverse expressions of your experience in mediums that include photography, video, poems, and even songs. Don’t let medium hold you back. We’ll find a way to include the work we like.

We appreciate and encourage your comments, here on the journal or over on the Junk blog. Editorial posts appear only on the blog.

The Rules:

Send your work to this address: submit (at) junklit (dot) com

  • Memoir only. It has to be a true story.
  • For prose, limit yourself to 2500 words or less.
  • Paste your submission into the body of an email. If you’ve got video or photography for us to check out, send us a link or let us know where to look.
  • Don’t send attachments.
  • Tell us a few words about yourself.
  • We’re okay with pseudonyms, but please use your real name to submit your work.
  • Simultaneous submissions are fine, but let us know. And if another journal picks up your work before we do, let us know that, too.
  • Upon acceptance, we ask only one-time rights; all subsequent rights revert immediately to the author.
